The U.S. Census Bureau states that the Raleigh was America’s third fastest-growing metro area from 2006 to 2007. Raleigh’s growth rate was 4.7 percent and rated as the 12th fastest growing region based on population growth. The total amount of Raleigh residents is 47,052.
Nearby Durham area grew half as quickly ,at a rate of 2.2 percent and has 10,428 residents.
This means that the combined area of Raleigh and Durham ( Wake, Johnson, Franklin, Durham, Orange, Chatham and Persons) is the nation’s ninth fastest growing metro area. The Raleigh area lies just behind New Orleans and just ahead of Grand Junction, Colorado in the the rate of population growth.
