While viewing homes yesterday my buyer and I stopped to get a soft drink.  As I was getting out of the car a lady approached me and asked if I had been to church today. My customer responded that she had just left church prior to meeting me. The lady proceeded to tell her that she was hungry, six weeks pregnant and had not had a meal in days and if she had learned her lesson in church, then she should help starving people. We responded that we would gladly buy her some lunch. She walked away and went over and spoke to the man who had apparently brought her to the store.  While I was in line placing my order she appeared and began ranting about how selfish we were to only offer her some lunch. She knew that she deserved more and we could afford to give her more. Her use of language and tone of voice need not be described. I immediately left the line and did not wait for my order.  If I had not been totally shocked and frightened, I knew the exact words to say but there was no need to respond to the rage. We left and continued our search for homes. This incident has been on my mind.  I know this person only wanted money and nothing would have been enough(because she said that she deserved more of everything). We really felt that when a person says they are hungry, the thing to do is to give them food. Even though obtaining food was not her goal, and we knew that in the beginning, we offered to do the right thing and it made us feel good. This lady proved that when someone says they are hungry and asks for money, offer them food if you want to help. Most likely the money will not go for the right purpose. It was a shame to be treated in this manner whey trying to help someone but I do know that we made the right offer.  If you are in the market for a home in the Raleigh, Wake County, Triangle North Carolina area please do not hesitate to contact Phyllis Wolborsky & the Wolborsky Group.
